Laboratory Scientist30 July **** }Job TypeFull-timeLocationBrisbane, Queensland, AustraliaJob descriptionTo be successful in this role you will have a PhD qualification with at least 2-3 years experience in microbiology, molecular microbiology and/or virology.Specific skills/experience include:Extensive experience in aseptic microbiology techniques.Have advanced knowledge and experience in a broad range of molecular biology techniques including (but not limited to) manual and automated DNA/RNA extraction, DNA/RNA quantitation and real-time PCR/qPCRDemonstrated high-level analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including experience in the design, implementation, data analysis and reportingDemonstrated ability to participate in the design, execution of research and development studies and coordinate the processing and analysis of dataDemonstrated ability to conduct experiments with minimal supervision and the ability to adapt to changing prioritiesPreparing and revising documents including SOPs, test instructions, testing plans, specifications, result/study protocols and reports for new and improved products and processesExcellent organisational and problem-solving skills and an ability to consistently meet deadlines and commitmentsA high degree of initiative, decision making ability,
and highly-developed negotiating skillsExcellent attention to detail with meticulous record keeping, and scientific writing skills are essentialDesirable skillsetsBackground in clinical/medical microbiologyPossess an approach to work which emphasises quality, accuracy and attention to detailExperience working within a multidisciplinary teamKeen interest in the state-of-the-art equipment trends and active participation to keep abreast of current applicable technologiesThe following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:Experience working in a biology or diagnostic laboratory, or experience with routine molecular microbiology diagnostic laboratory analysesDuties and responsibilities:In this role you will perform and oversee infectious disease molecular diagnostic testing, responsible for completion of analytical and clinical experiments according to regulatory requirements, data analysis and reporting according to regulatory requirements, provide input and completion of troubleshooting experiments, assist with implementation and verification of recent methods and technologies, manage laboratory resources and consumables and contribute to accreditation compliance activities.Location: Brisbane, Queensland, AustraliaRegime: Full-timeReports to: Chief Scientific OfficerStarting date: ASAP
