Every role at the AFL helps progress the game, so more people can love it, connect with it and see what is possible through it.The opportunityThe Procurement Lead plays an important role in helping the AFL procure goods and services in a timely, commercial and responsible way.Reporting to the Head of Procurement and based at AFL House in Melbourne, this role partners across the organisation to understand business needs, identify suitable suppliers, support effective negotiations and deliver value through strong procurement practice.You will help strengthen supplier relationships, improve procurement processes and use data to support practical, informed and compliant decision making.What you'll ownYou'll support procurement activity that helps the AFL achieve strong value, quality, service and risk outcomes.You'll add value through:Developing and supporting procurement and sourcing strategies that align to business requirementsPartnering with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs, clarify requirements and support practical sourcing optionsIdentifying, assessing and recommending suppliers through market research, supplier evaluation and clear procurement processesSupporting negotiations on supplier pricing, terms, delivery expectations and service requirementsBuilding and maintaining productive supplier relationships that support reliable service, long-term value and successful procurement outcomesManaging accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, supplier information and procurement documentationTracking and reporting procurement and supplier metrics to identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency and better decision makingAdvising the business on supplier and contract management, including performance, service issues, delivery expectations and contractual obligationsMonitoring procurement data,
supplier performance and market trends to identify risks, improvement opportunities and potential cost efficienciesSupporting compliance with procurement policies, ethical sourcing expectations, approval processes and relevant legislative or regulatory requirementsContributing to procurement projects, including supplier implementation, transition activity, exit planning and communication with impacted stakeholdersWhat you'll bringProven experience in procurement, sourcing, contract management or supplier management, ideally in a fast-paced and stakeholder-focused environmentStrong understanding of procurement processes, including sourcing, market assessment, negotiation, supplier evaluation and contract supportThe ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers through clear communication and sound judgementSupplier relationship management capability, including supporting long-term partnerships, resolving issues and working with suppliers to improve performanceStrong analytical capability, including the ability to interpret procurement data, assess supplier performance and identify practical improvement opportunitiesThe ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain accuracy when working to deadlinesExperience using procurement, purchase order, inventory management or enterprise resource planning systemsMS D365 experience is desirableRelevant tertiary qualifications or procurement-related certifications are desirableA current Working with Children Check is requiredWhy you'll love being on our teamAt the AFL, you will be part of a values-led team that aims high, backs each other and brings energy,
