About the roleMid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is seeking to appoint Two dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated Consultants in Obstetrics to join our busy, forward-thinking Women's Health team.
The post holder will provide consultant-level care within the Obstetric service, supporting the assessment and ongoing management of pregnancies.
You will work closely with senior clinicians to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care and contribute to service development, teaching and governance.Main dutiesAntenatal ClinicsElective Caesarean Lists - ***********.
Pre and Post op Ward rounds are built into these times.Administrative duties, for which appropriate office space and secretarial support is providedWeekend On-call duties for Obstetrics is shared with 16 colleagues on an approximately 1:8 basis - Friday/Sunday on-call weekend - resident 08:00 to ***** hours during weekends Saturday and Sunday and then non resident until 08:00 - Saturday on-call weekend as above - Short working weekend - 08:00 to 16:00 Saturday and Sunday (no overnight on-call) - non-patient-facing duties on a post-on call dayHot Week (Alternate Antenatal/Labour Ward) 1 week in 8: Monday to Friday 08:*******:00 hrs (relieved of other activities during this period)Weekday On-call duties for Obstetrics is shared with 16 colleagues on an approximately 1:16 basis (resident from 17:30 hours until 23:00 hours during weekdays Monday to Friday and then non resident until 08:00) - non-patient-facing duties on a post-on call day.Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework, with at least a minimum of 1.5 SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable.
Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service.We are keen to support personal and professional development, including offering lead roles for key areas of the serviceIndividual job plans may differ to the sample provided below, as we will consider service need and personal and professional development.




Please see the attached full job description for an example weekly timetable.Essential person specification requirementsFull GMC Registration with licence to practiseInclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT in O&GMedical; Degree from recognised medical schoolMRCOG or equivalentEligibility to work in the UKATSM Advanced Labour Ward practice or equivalent ATSM Obstetric Medicine or equivalentFully accredited by college and acceptable to college representative.Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of an Obstetrics ServiceAppropriate experience in Obstetrics To share with colleagues responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Service.Teaching and training of junior staff, medical studentsTo actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
