The legal centre provides free legal advice, casework, community legal education and undertakes law reform work.
The Centre actively works toward social justice and the protection of human rights.Why your role mattersThe Aboriginal Community Worker will assist and support our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in accessing Kingsford Legal Centre.
The Aboriginal Community Worker will work to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients have accessible and culturally safe pathways to legal assistance and support.




The role works collaboratively with the staff of the legal service to ensure the service maintains culturally appropriate strategies for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
The role will also support Law & Justice students to ensure they meet the Centre's expectations in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
The role is based at the Centre, at UNSW Kensington but also works in the local community at outreach locations.The position reports to the Operations Manager/Director and has no direct reports.Skills and ExperienceTo be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship.
Visa sponsorship will not be available for this role.Being an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person - this is a genuine qualification under the Anti-Discrimination Act NSW ****, section 14(d).
Relevant experience and/or qualifications in areas such as community services, youth services, welfare work, social work or law (either completed or currently studying);Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal communities, especially in a legal or justice context, or the capacity to develop these skills.Proven experience in the development of strategies to improve Aboriginal access to services or the capacity to develop these skills.Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to social justice and community development,
