Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of our mechanical workshop and play a critical role in keeping Council's fleet, heavy plant and equipment safe, reliable and operational.This is a hands-on leadership chance where you'll combine your technical expertise with team supervision, planning, safety and operational coordination.About the RoleReporting to the Team Leader Fleet and Workshop, you will coordinate workshop activities that support a diverse fleet of heavy plant, trucks, light vehicles and associated equipment.
You'll provide leadership and technical guidance to workshop employees and apprentices while ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and cost-effectively.Key responsibilities include:Coordinating daily, weekly and monthly maintenance programsSupervising workshop staff and apprenticesScheduling servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance activitiesManaging workshop inventory, parts and consumablesMonitoring fleet availability and minimising downtimeEnsuring compliance with safety,



legislative and quality standardsSupporting internal stakeholders with timely and professional serviceDriving continuous improvement across workshop operations and maintenance practices.About YouYou are a practical leader who enjoys developing people, solving problems and delivering quality outcomes.To be successful, you will bring:A trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics or equivalentStrong experience in mechanical workshop operations and maintenance environmentsDemonstrated experience supervising staff or leading workshop activitiesKnowledge of heavy plant, trucks, light fleet and associated equipmentExperience coordinating servicing and preventative maintenance programsKnowledge of workplace health and safety requirements within workshop environmentsExperience using fleet maintenance or workshop management systemsStrong communication, organisational and customer service skillsA current Victorian Driver LicenceReady to Take the Lead?
