Working with six state member associations, we engage across industry, government and community to advocate for practical outcomes that reflect the realities of rural and regional transport.The role is based at the Australian Trucking Association building in Canberra's Parliamentary Triangle,

Working directly with our Executive Director, you'll provide dependable support across the organisation and become an significant point of continuity for our national office.
We're a small national team, so there will also be times when you're working independently from the Canberra office.
You'll stay connected with our members, sponsors, Council and other stakeholders, but you'll need to be comfortable working autonomously and getting on with things without needing someone beside you.Key responsibilities include:Coordinating Council, Executive and committee meetings, including agendas, papers, minutes, action registers, correspondence and governance recordsSupporting members, sponsors and stakeholders through enquiries, membership administration, contact records, sponsor reporting and delivery of agreed commitmentsPreparing and scheduling newsletters, routine social media and stakeholder communications, while keeping the website and SharePoint records currentProviding administrative support for policy work, submissions, consultations and advocacy activitiesSupporting conferences, events and stakeholder meetings, and keeping the practical day-to‐day requirements of the national office running smoothlyMaintaining accurate records,
databases and filing systems while identifying sensible ways to improve administrative processes and systemsAbout YouYou're probably the person who sees the loose ends.You notice when something hasn't been followed up.
You remember the thing everyone else forgot.
And when you see a process that could work better, your instinct is to figure out how to improve it.You're organised without being rigid, professional without being overly corporate, and comfortable dealing with everyone from rural transport operators and sponsors to senior executives and government stakeholders.
You're comfortable working independently and don't need constant direction.
Once you understand what needs to happen, you take ownership and follow it through.What We Are Looking ForStrong experience in administration, coordination, operations or executive supportExcellent organisation, prioritisation and attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skillsConfidence working autonomously, exercising sound judgement and managing competing prioritiesStrong Microsoft Office skills and confidence learning and improving systemsA practical, resourceful and adaptable approach, with the maturity to engage confidently across a wide range of stakeholdersHighly regarded:An interest in or connection to rural, agricultural or transport industriesExperience within an industry association, membership organisation, transport, agriculture, government or another stakeholder-focused environmentExperience with database managementExperience with websites, SharePoint, newsletters, social media or event coordinationA Note on FlexibilityThis is primarily an office-based role in Canberra.
For an outstanding candidate, we may consider part-time or school-hours arrangements.
