FGW Roofing Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Metal Roofer to join our team in Canberra, ACT.
This is a full-time position where you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining metal roofing systems on residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
As a Metal Roofer, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality roofing solutions that protect our clients' properties and contribute to the reputation of FGW Roofing as a trusted name in the building trades.
This role requires you to work primarily on-site at various project locations across the Canberra region.
Key responsibilities
Install metal roofing systems, including steel, aluminium, and copper materials, following architectural specifications and building codes
Measure, cut, and shape metal sheets and panels to fit roof dimensions and configurations
Secure metal roofing materials using appropriate fastening methods, sealants, and flashing techniques
Repair and maintain existing metal roofing systems, identifying and addressing leaks, damage, and wear
Work safely at heights using proper fall protection equipment and adhering to workplace health and safety regulations
Interpret and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications
Coordinate with other tradespeople and site supervisors to ensure efficient project completion
Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure compliance with industry standards
Maintain tools and equipment in positive working condition
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a Metal Roofer with at least 3-5 years in the building trades industry
Knowledge of metal roofing materials, including steel, aluminium, copper, and zinc systems
Proficiency in using roofing tools and equipment, including power tools, hand tools, and safety harnesses




Understanding of building codes, safety standards, and Australian Construction Standards relevant to roofing
Physical fitness and ability to work at heights in various weather conditions
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valid driver's licence and reliable transport to access multiple job sites across Canberra
Current First Aid certificate and White Card (Construction Induction Card) are essential
Relevant roofing certifications or trade qualifications (e.g., Certificate III in Roofing) are highly desirable
