You bring exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills, coupled with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
Confident operating independently, you're committed to integrity, continuous improvement and helping organisations strengthen governance and financial management practices.Key ResponsibilitiesLead Council's Financial Management Assurance Program, providing independent assurance over financial governance, internal controls and legislative complianceProvide expert advice and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and Audit & Risk Committee on financial governance,
compliance and assurance mattersMonitor and report on the implementation of audit recommendations, control improvements and organisational assurance activitiesDrive continuous improvement in financial governance, policies, procedures, controls and risk management practices across CouncilSkills and ExperienceDemonstrated experience in financial governance, assurance, internal audit, risk management or financial controls within a complex organisationStrong knowledge of financial management legislation, accounting standards, governance frameworks and assurance methodologiesExperience developing and implementing governance, assurance or control frameworksHighly developed analytical, problem-solving and strategic thinking skillsAbility to prepare high-level reports and provide advice to executive leadership and governance committeesStrong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across organisational boundariesExperience interpreting complex legislation, policies and regulatory requirementsProficiency in financial management systems and data analysis to support governance and decision-makingQualifications, Skills and ExperienceDegree qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related disciplineCPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) membership highly regardedProfessional certifications or memberships in governance, assurance or internal audit disciplines highly regardedExperience in local government or the public sector is desirableCurrent C Class driver licenceWork where others Holiday.
