Asmbl is a Canberra-based joinery and fitout business producing high-quality custom cabinetry for residential and commercial clients.
We're a small, close-knit team and we run our workshop on Lean and 5S principles — everything has a place, every process gets questioned, and we're always looking for a better way to do things.
We're busy, growing, and looking for the right person to grow with us.
The Role
We need a reliable, switched-on workshop assistant to keep things moving so our tradespeople can stay focused on the skilled work.
You'll be hands-on every day — this isn't a desk job, and it isn't a "stand around and wait to be told what to do" job either.
What you'll be doing:
Running and loading the CNC under guidance
Helping with deliveries, materials handling, and stock organisation
Supporting edge banding, assembly, and workshop prep
Keeping the workshop clean, organised, and running to our 5S standards
Speaking up when you spot a better way to do something — we want people who notice waste and inefficiency, not just follow steps
This is a workshop-based role — no site work or installations required.
This isn't an apprenticeship and it isn't a guaranteed pathway into a cabinetmaking trade — but if you're sharp, reliable, and genuinely engaged with how the workshop runs,



there's real room to grow with us as the business grows.
What We're Looking For
No experience necessary — full training provided
A genuine interest in how things work and how they could work better
Someone who takes pride in a clean, organised space
Reliable and punctual — we need to be able to count on you
Comfortable with manual handling and practical, physical work
Able to follow instructions and safety procedures, while still thinking for yourself
White Card, or willingness to get one — we'll point you in the right direction
A driver's licence is a bonus but not essential
What We Offer
$26–$29/hr based on experience, reviewed as you take on more
Superannuation at the current legislated rate
Full training on all equipment and processes
Full-time or part-time considered — flexible for the right person
A genuinely well-run workshop with clear systems, not chaos
