Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a Mechanic to join our Workshop team within the Infrastructure & Workplace Department.This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing Council's fleet, plant and equipment to ensure all machinery remains safe, reliable and fit for operational use.

This includes routine servicing, breakdown repairs, diagnostics and preventative maintenance to ensure plant and equipment operate safely and efficiently.Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on Council's fleet,
plant and equipmentDiagnose mechanical issues and carry out repairs on diesel and petrol enginesAssist with basic hydraulic and automotive electrical repairsUndertake minor welding repairs when requiredMaintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance through job cards or computer systemsConduct repairs safely and in accordance with workshop procedures and WHS requirementsMaintain a clean and organised workshop environmentAssist with operational duties and plant operation where appropriately licensedParticipate in after‐hours call‐outs when requiredAbout YouTo be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:Experience in automotive or heavy vehicle mechanical repairsStrong knowledge of mechanical repair techniques for a range of plant and equipmentWelding experience (MIG/ARC or similar)Basic knowledge of automotive electrical systems and hydraulicsAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesGood communication and teamwork skillsAbility to work independently and exercise sound judgementMandatory RequirementsFormal qualifications in aMechanical Trade (Automotive / Diesel / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic)MR Driver Licence or willingness to obtain ( essential)HR Driver LicenceAdditional qualifications or experience in hydraulics, auto electrical or weldingFor a more detailed job outline, please refer to the attached PD.Cloncurry Shire Council reserves the right to commence recruitment prior to the closing date should a suitable candidate apply.
