We provide a range of community and aged care services, including preparing and delivering meals to older people in our community.About the roleThis is a hands-on role supporting the preparation, cooking, packing, and cleaning involved in our community meals service.Depending on the shift, duties may include:preparing ingredients and assisting with meal preparationcooking meals under the direction of senior kitchen staffportioning, packing, and labelling mealswashing dishes and kitchen equipmentmaintaining a clean and hygienic kitchenreceiving and storing food and suppliesfollowing food safety, allergen and hygiene requirementsassisting with catering and other kitchen activities when requiredAbout youWe are looking for someone who is dependable,



works well as part of a small team and is comfortable in a busy commercial kitchen.You will ideally have:a passion for multicultural cuisine and communitiesexperience working in a commercial kitchen, café, catering, aged care services, or similar environmentbasic cooking and food preparation skillsa valuable understanding of food hygiene and safe food handlingthe ability to work efficiently and follow instructionsgood organisation and attention to detaila respectful approach to working in a multicultural community organisationa food handling or food safety supervisor qualificationThe successful applicant will be required to meet HMC's employment screening requirements, including a satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Children Check.What we offer$***** per hour casual rate, plus superannuation and applicable Award penaltiesprimarily daytime worka friendly and community-focused workplacevaried kitchen and catering workthe opportunity to contribute directly to a service supporting older people and multicultural communities across the Hunter
