Working hours: 2:00pm – 10:00pm, afternoon shift
Design Sheet Metal is seeking a reliable and motivated Slitter Operator to join our production team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with manufacturing or production experience who takes pride in operating machinery safely, producing quality products, and meeting production targets.
The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining the productivity of the afternoon shift and ensuring customer orders are processed accurately and on time.
About the Role
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating the slitting line to process steel coils into the required widths and lengths, while maintaining high standards of production, quality, housekeeping and safety.
Your responsibilities will include
Safely and efficiently operate the slitting line to process steel coils to required specifications
Accurately identify and process customer orders in accordance with production requirements
Read and follow production instructions, specifications and job requirements
Accurately measure material to ensure finished products meet required widths, lengths and specifications
Meet daily production targets while maintaining a strong focus on quality and safety
Minimise material waste and maximise production efficiency
Ensure finished material is correctly prepared for the next stage of production or dispatch
Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area in accordance with workplace safety requirements
About You
To be successful in this role,



you will bring:
Previous manufacturing or production experience
The ability to safely operate industrial machinery
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work
The ability to read and follow production instructions accurately
The ability to accurately measure and assess material
A good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
The ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team
Reliable attendance, punctuality and a strong work ethic
Good communication skills
Previous slitting line experience
Sheetmetal or steel manufacturing experience
Experience handling steel coils
Forklift licence is essential
Experience operating overhead cranes or other coil-handling equipment
Understanding of steel gauges, widths and material specifications
Mechanical aptitude
Experience working within production KPI environments
