Looking for a workplace you'll genuinely enjoy coming to?
We're looking for an experienced Dental Assistant to join our small, friendly team at Whitsunday Orthodontic Specialists.
If you enjoy dentistry but feel ready for a change of environment, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
We're a boutique specialist practice with a close-knit team, high standards of patient care, and a workplace culture that is warm, supportive, professional and genuinely enjoyable to be part of.
We're looking for someone who wants more than just their next job.
We'd love to find someone who wants to settle into a team where they feel valued, continue developing their skills, and hopefully stay and grow with us for years to come.
The role
You'll work chairside with our specialist orthodontist, Dr Victoria Beck, in a hands-on clinical role where no two days are quite the same.
Orthodontics is a little different from general dentistry.
You get to know your patients and their families over the course of their treatment, celebrate their progress along the way, and be part of creating a result that can make a real difference to their confidence.
We take what we do seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously.
We work hard, help each other out and like to have plenty of laughs along the way.
Why you might love working with us
• Our clinical days are Monday - Thursday.
.
No Fridays or weekends!
• Generous hourly rate, negotiable based on your experience and skills
• Opportunity for your remuneration to grow as your knowledge and responsibilities develop
• All training provided during paid work hours — we don't expect you to learn in your own time
• Two-week practice closure over Christmas and New Year
• A fresh, modern and beautifully maintained specialist clinic
• A small, supportive team where everyone plays an important part
• Genuine investment in your professional development, including in-clinic and external training
• Opportunities to attend courses and conferences
• A role with variety, responsibility and room to progress
Most importantly, we want you to
feel supported and appreciated
.
We believe people do their best work when they enjoy where they work, feel comfortable asking questions, and know their contribution matters.
A little about you
You already have experience working in dental or orthodontic practice and are confident with the fundamentals of clinical assisting, sterilisation and infection control.
You're also someone who:
• Is warm, friendly and enjoys building relationships with patients
• Likes being busy and thrives in a positive, fast-paced clinical workplace
• Takes pride in doing things properly and providing excellent patient care
• Is reliable, organised and happy to help the people around you
• Enjoys being part of a team rather than simply coming in, doing the job and going home
• Wants to keep learning and developing professionally
A Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting would be amazing, but not essential.
You don't need orthodontic experience.
If you have a good dental foundation and the right attitude, we're very happy to teach you the orthodontic side of the role.
Thinking about making a change?
We know that leaving a workplace—particularly one you've been with for some time—is a big decision.
So if you've been quietly thinking that you'd love a fresh start, a new challenge or simply a workplace where you can see yourself being happy for the long term, we'd genuinely love to hear from you.
Even if you're not sure whether orthodontics is for you, please feel welcome to apply and have a conversation with us.
Your application will, of course, be treated with discretion.
We look forward to meeting you!
