Join (Site) as a Sterilising Technician and play a crucial role in ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sterilised to the highest standards. Your work helps protect patients and staff by maintaining a safe, infection-free environment.

What you'll be doing
Provide safe, timely and effective decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilisation and distribution of reusable medical devices in accordance with AS 5369:2023 (as amended), NSW Health policy and local CSSD procedures, ensuring patient safety, infection prevention and high-quality service delivery. The position will work independently at times and be required to supervise less experienced staff.

Selection Criteria * Completion of a Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services at TAFE, or equivalent and completion of all relevant sterilising and endoscopy service technician competencies.
- Demonstrated experience in a Sterile Services/CSSD environment, or transferable experience in a procedure-driven production workplace requiring attention to detail and quality control.
- Knowledge of, or ability to rapidly learn, reprocessing requirements for reusable medical devices including cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging and sterilisation,
consistent with AS 5369 and local procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately inspect and assemble surgical instrument sets (including complex sets/loan kits), identify defects and escalate discrepancies appropriately.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and monitor reprocessing equipment and complete routine testing/quality checks, with the ability to respond to non-conformances in line with procedure.
- Proven ability to maintain accurate records and traceability documentation (paper-based and/or electronic tracking systems).
- Demonstrated understanding of WHS requirements relevant to CSSD (manual handling, chemical safety, heat/steam hazards) and commitment to safe work practices.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with CSSD colleagues and clinical customers to meet service requirements.

This is a Category 'A' position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive . All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
