About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Urology Nurse to join our Planned Care - Urology team in the Prostate Cancer Specialist role, providing leave coverage for an 11-month maximum term full time contract.
This is an exciting full-time opportunity, where you'll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional care and support to patients diagnosed with prostate cancer across the continuum of care. This role will see you work alongside a passionate team committed to excellence in urological health and patient outcomes.
Salary range: $70.58 - $76.63 per hour and +
What you'll be doing
The Prostate Cancer Specialist nurse has exceptional experience in Urology nursing, demonstrating the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team providing support and clinical leadership across Mater Health Brisbane.
- Providing specialty-specific support and resources to staff and patients diagnosed with Prostate cancer throughout the continuum of care
- Work within the Multidisciplinary Team to ensure consistent patient outcomes between the various streams
- Provide high-quality patient care, reliable information and education for patients and their families
- Liaise with scheduler/s to ensure appropriate timing procedure/surgery dates of patients who are deemed ready for care
- Coordinating care throughout the patient journey ensuring access to services and appropriate follow-up in place
- Establishes priorities for resolution of identified health needs in consultation with the patient or group of patients
- Acts as a patient advocate ensuring patients are informed and consent is gained prior to treatment,
assisting/negotiating sensitively with patients where there may be barriers to understanding
About you
To be considered for this role, you will have current registration with AHPRA as a registered nurse (no restrictions) and at least 5 years surgical/urological/oncology nursing experience.
- High levels of communication skills when liaising with patients, families and staff within professional, legal and ethical parameters
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of optimal patient outcomes
- Demonstrated clinical leadership skills
- Exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development of yourself and staff members
- Ability to contribute to departmental research activities
