Troocoo Government is currently supporting a large Queensland State Government department with the recruitment of an experienced PO3 Civil Engineer (Traffic) to join its Traffic Engineering Practice team based in Nerang, QLD. This is an initial 2-year labour hire contract position (with potential 2x12-month extensions) and is paying $67.95 to $74 an hour + super, depending on experience.
The Role
As the PO3 Civil Engineer you will work under the guidance of senior engineering staff and reporting to the Principal Engineer (Traffic). You will provide technical engineering support across road safety, traffic operations and transport infrastructure initiatives.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Investigating, analysing and reviewing traffic and road safety issues across the state-controlled road network.
- Contributing to the delivery of the Road Safety Minor Works Program, including identification and assessment of appropriate road safety treatments.
- Supporting the development of Road Safety Mass Action Plans, Safer Roads Sooner and Black Spot Program project proposals.
- Undertaking traffic investigations and providing technical advice relating to road safety, signage and line marking.
- Assisting with initiatives aimed at improving road network capacity, congestion and safety.
- Preparing technical reports, correspondence and engineering advice relating to traffic operations.
- Responding to stakeholder, public and Ministerial enquiries regarding traffic and road safety matters.
- Applying relevant engineering standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements to road infrastructure projects.
- Working collaboratively with engineering colleagues and internal and external stakeholders to support effective project and network outcomes.
About You
To be considered a competitive applicant for the PO3 Civil Engineer position, you will ideally bring:
- A four-year Bachelor of Engineering meeting Washington Accord requirements, or an equivalent qualification recognised by Engineers Australia - mandatory.
- Experience or demonstrated capability within civil, traffic, transport or road engineering.
- Exposure to traffic engineering and/or road safety would be highly regarded.
- An understanding of road infrastructure design, construction, maintenance or operations.
- Experience undertaking technical investigations, analysis and report preparation.
- Knowledge of relevant road engineering standards, guidelines and specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide explicit technical advice.
- A current Class C driver's licence and Construction Industry White Card - mandatory.
