An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Survey Manager to oversee Australia's participation in a major international adult skills assessment coordinated by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
This large-scale, computer-based household survey is conducted every ten years and provides internationally comparable insights into adult skills, helping inform workforce planning, education and training, and public policy. In this pivotal role, you'll provide strategic and operational oversight to ensure survey delivery meets international quality standards and produces reliable, high-quality data for public release.
About the role
Reporting to the Program Director, you'll work closely with delivery partners, international stakeholders and external vendors to manage survey operations from planning through to reporting. You'll play a critical role in ensuring fieldwork, data quality and survey outputs meet agreed milestones and rigorous international standards.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the delivery and reporting of survey outcomes, ensuring data products are quality assured and suitable for public release.
- Oversee survey operations in partnership with external vendors and international stakeholders to achieve key milestones and quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance on survey instruments, questionnaires, testing and respondent engagement strategies for a face-to-face, tablet-based survey.
- Manage quality assurance throughout data collection, identifying risks and resolving complex data issues.
- Monitor fieldwork performance to improve response rates, minimise bias and support representative survey outcomes.
- Ensure survey data is managed in line with legislative requirements and best-practice data governance.
- Coordinate responses to operational and data management issues through regular stakeholder engagement and quality control meetings.
About you
You'll bring a strong background in survey management, statistical programs or large-scale research projects, along with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
We're looking for someone with:
- Experience managing large-scale surveys, including survey design, data management, analysis and governance.
- Strong project management skills with a proven ability to deliver quality outcomes within competing priorities.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with sound judgement and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to build productive relationships with vendors, technical experts and international stakeholders.
- Robust communication skills and experience producing high-quality reports and data-driven insights.
- Baseline security clearance
