Move into clinical research without stepping away from medicine Redstone Medical is recruiting for a permanent Medical Officer / Sub-Investigator opportunity with an established clinical research organisation in Melbourne.
This is an excellent opportunity for doctors who want to move away from the traditional hospital pathway while remaining clinically involved and developing a long-term career within clinical research.
You will join an experienced Medical Operations team supporting the safe and compliant delivery of early-phase and First-in-Human clinical trials, with a strong focus on participant safety, clinical assessment and medical oversight.
Previous clinical research experience is advantageous, but it is not essential.
The role Working as a Medical Officer and Sub-Investigator, you will provide medical oversight across clinical studies and support participants throughout the trial process.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a Sub-Investigator across delegated clinical trials
- Conducting medical histories and physical examinations
- Reviewing pathology, diagnostic results and participant eligibility
- Completing and documenting informed consent
- Providing ongoing medical oversight and participant care
- Reviewing and assessing adverse events
- Prescribing investigational products and other medications within your scope and delegation
- Liaising with participants' GPs or specialists where required
- Supporting medical activities throughout the delivery of clinical trials
- Working closely with investigators, clinical operations and wider research teams
- Contributing to medical education, quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives
There may also be opportunities, where appropriately delegated, to take on Principal Investigator responsibilities for selected healthy-volunteer studies.
Who we're looking for To be considered, you will need:
- A recognised medical degree
- Full, unconditional AHPRA registration
- At least 2 years of post-registration clinical experience
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- A genuine interest in clinical research and developing within the industry
Previous experience in clinical trials, research or as a Sub-Investigator is desirable but not essential.
