Handy with tools and good with people? We're on the hunt for hands-on Maintenance Officers / Handymen to join aged care facilities across Sydney. Think reactive fixes, preventative maintenance, and keeping the place running smoothly for the residents who call it home.
- Mon–Fri only
- $37.00/hr ordinary hours
- Sites across Sydney
- Aged care experience welcomed but not essential
- Stable, ongoing work with a well-established provider
What you'll actually be doing You'll be the go-to person keeping buildings, property and equipment in good shape — a mix of reactive callouts and staying on top of the preventative maintenance calendar. You'll work closely with the Area Maintenance Supervisor, and when a job needs specialist hands, you'll bring in and oversee contractors to get it done right.
Day to day, that looks like:
- General building maintenance and repairs within your skillset
- Preventative and reactive maintenance across buildings, property and fixed assets
- Overseeing contractors on-site — making sure they're inducted properly and the work's up to standard
- Spotting hazards or risks and flagging them before they become a problem
- Jumping on site emergencies (or coordinating the right person to)
- Keeping easy records of maintenance costs and consumables
- Working safely and respectfully around residents and staff — it's an occupied, lived-in space, not a construction site
What you'll need
- A trade qualification, or solid hands-on maintenance experience instead
- At least 3 years doing this kind of work (Maintenance Officer / Handyperson)
- A working understanding of relevant Building Codes and Standards
- Good WHS know-how — hazard spotting, risk assessment, the basics done properly
- Comfortable enough with a computer for basic admin and reporting (Microsoft programs)
- Solid communication skills — you'll be chatting with residents, families, staff and contractors regularly
- A friendly, professional manner around elderly residents in a care setting
Before you can start A few standard checks and bits of training need to be sorted before day one — don't stress if you're missing any, we'll point you to accredited providers:
- National Police Check and/or NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Proof of your right to work in Australia
- WHS induction (aged care setting)
- General maintenance WHS training — hazard/risk awareness, safe tool use, electrical safety awareness, and basic asbestos awareness
Sound like your kind of role? Apply now or reach out for a confidential chat — we'd love to hear from you.

- Mon-Fri set roster, 37.6 hrs/week
