Registered Nurse – Rural Generalist / Emergency

About the role
Wellington Health Service is seeking applications from enthusiastic Registered Nurses, including experienced clinicians, to join our Acute Ward team, with the opportunity to train and work within our busy Rural Emergency Department. This is an excellent opportunity to develop broad clinical skills in a supportive rural health setting, with ongoing education and professional development.
In this role, you will:
- Provide high-quality nursing care within the Acute Ward
- Support the Emergency Department as required
- Contribute to leadership and support within the nursing team
- Work collaboratively while also practicing autonomously within your scope
- Participate in further education and training to support rural and remote emergency care
About You
We are looking for nurses who:
- Have a sound understanding of clinical care, including patient deterioration and escalation of care
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Can prioritise workload to ensure safe and effective patient care
- Are motivated to undertake additional education and training
You will also have:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse
- Previous experience in an Acute Care setting is preferred but not essential
- Experience in a Rural or Remote Emergency Department, including triage training, is desirable but not required
- Willingness to complete further training relevant to rural emergency nursing
- Availability to work rotating shift work, including morning, afternoon, and night shifts
