About the Role

Safe Wayz is a new statewide initiative providing an integrated, culturally grounded response for children (under 10) displaying problematic or harmful sexual behaviours (PHSBs). The program takes a strength‑based, family‑focused, culturally centred, and trauma‑informed approach, with a strong focus on Aboriginal children, families, communities, and cultural safety.

This role offers a supported Aboriginal development pathway, providing opportunities to enter at various experience levels and progress into senior clinical roles through structured supervision, mentoring, cultural support, and funded training.

The pathway supports career progression across multiple classifications, including:





- Aboriginal Health Worker / Aboriginal Health Practitioner

- Counsellor Levels 1–4

- Sexual Assault Worker Levels 1–4

- Psychologist / Senior Psychologist

Staff who do not yet meet Level 4 requirements are supported to complete the ECAV qualification pathway (Graduate Certificate in Human and Community Services – Interpersonal Trauma), with recognition of prior learning (RPL) where applicable.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Deliver early support, counselling and safety planning for children under 10 with problematic or harmful sexual behaviours (PHSBs)

- Coordinate and contribute to prevention and early‑intervention initiatives in partnership with Aboriginal communities and Aboriginal‑controlled organisations.

- Conduct holistic psychosocial assessments that incorporate cultural needs, cultural care and family strengths.

- Work collaboratively with Safe Wayz, SAS, CPCS, JCPRP and CAMHS teams to support integrated responses for children and families

- Engage in clinical and cultural supervision and contribute to statewide networks, working groups, and professional development. Participating in a 24/7 on-call roster for crisis response

Employment Type: Part Time - Contract until 30 June 2030 (then pending ongoing funding)

Remuneration: $67,612.00 – $139,712.00 per annum, pro rata (+ super +17.5% leave loading where applicable)

What We’re Looking For

- Aboriginality is a genuine occupational requirement (Section 14 Anti-Discrimination Act 1977).

- Qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Graduate Certificate in ECAV qualification pathway - Graduate Certificate in Human and Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) with demonstrated Cultural expertise

- Experience working with Aboriginal communities and understanding intergenerational trauma.

- Skills in child-centred, family-focused counselling and case management.

- Current NSW Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel.
