Mainfreight Wharf (the container transport division of the Mainfreight Group) based at the Port of Brisbane, is currently looking for a Chef or experienced Cook to run our in-house team kitchen.
This isn’t a standard hospitality role. At Mainfreight, we eat together like a family, and our canteen plays a key part of our culture. You’ll be cooking fresh, healthy, home-style lunches & light breakfasts for approximately 40 team members and drivers.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Preparing and serving healthy, tasty lunches for up to 40+ team members and drivers
- Creating weekly menus that are well‑balanced, nutritious, and appealing
- Managing the day‑to‑day running of the kitchen
- Catering for internal functions and special events
- Sourcing quality ingredients and liaising with suppliers
- Managing food orders, stock, and minimising waste
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety
- Working within set budgets and managing food costs
- Completing basic admin tasks such as banking and record keeping
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Chef or Cook in a similar role
- A genuine passion for healthy, well‑balanced food
- Experience with menu planning and portion control
- Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen standards
- Excellent organisation and time‑management skills
- A proactive, flexible, and resourceful approach
- A friendly, positive personality with a strong work ethic
- Someone who enjoys working independently and being part of a close‑knit team
