About Us?
The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The Strategy and Partnerships Business Area work collaboratively across IUIH, the IUIH Network partners and with other stakeholders to develop and progress strategic health and wellbeing priorities that deliver on our vision and purpose. The Strategy and Partnerships Business Area include IUIH's strategic policy and organisational transformation functions, along with marketing and communication functions, and an cutting-edge health-justice partnership arrangement through IUIH's Legal Service (an accredited Community Legal Centre).

About the Role?
As a Senior Policy Advisor, your role is to lead the development and coordination of strategic policy, advocacy, and funding initiatives that advance the priorities of the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) and the IUIH Network. This includes identifying and progressing opportunities to influence reform, secure funding, and strengthen partnerships, while supporting the development of strategic frameworks that guide long-term, community-led approaches to improving health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The role focuses on shaping system-level change through high-quality policy advice, submissions, and advocacy, ensuring alignment with the goals, aspirations, and priorities of Community.





Your day-to-day duties will include:

- Coordinate and prepare funding proposals and tenders for services and programs that are a priority for IUIH, individual IUIH Network organisations, or for the IUIH Network collectively.
- Coordinate and prepare policy submissions to public consultations on matters of strategic importance to IUIH and/or the IUIH Network.
- Identify, provide advice on and prepare proactive and reactive advocacy to government and other stakeholders on matters of strategic importance and on reform opportunities for IUIH and the IUIH Network.
- Support strategic, external partnerships for IUIH and the IUIH Network, such as the SEQ First Nations Health Equity Partnership.
- Support in the coordination and preparation of strategic frameworks that position IUIH and/or the IUIH Network to deliver on the goals, aspirations and priorities of Community.

About You?

- Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
- Current Criminal History Check

Desirable, but not mandatory:

- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and/or Communities.




- Experience working with or within the Australian health system or similarly complex social services setting.
- Knowledge of or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of national and State Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy priorities and national and State health policy priorities.
- Experience supporting multiple workstreams or concurrent projects with competing priorities.
- Experience in developing and maintaining positive stakeholder working relationships, including working with senior leaders or executives, to deliver project outcomes.
