BJT Equip is a growing earthmoving, plant hire and civil construction support business servicing projects across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Ipswich and wider South East Queensland.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Sales & Projects Manager to help develop new opportunities and manage projects from initial enquiry through to completion.
About the Role
The Sales & Projects Manager is a key position within BJT Equip, responsible for generating recent business, developing and maintaining client relationships, preparing tenders and quotations, and managing projects and contracts through to successful completion.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who understands the civil construction and earthmoving industry and can confidently move between sales, estimating, client management and project delivery.
You will work closely with the Directors, operations team, supervisors, operators, suppliers and clients to ensure opportunities are converted into profitable work and projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Identify and pursue recent business opportunities across civil construction, infrastructure and earthmoving.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Undertake regular client prospecting, outreach and follow-up.
- Manage enquiries and opportunities from initial contact through to award.
- Prepare professional quotes, proposals and submissions.
- Follow up outstanding quotations and actively work to convert opportunities into secured projects.
- Develop a strong understanding of client requirements and recommend practical equipment and project solutions.
- Maintain visibility over the sales pipeline and upcoming opportunities.
- Assist in developing long-term relationships with Tier 1, Tier 2, government and civil construction clients.
Tenders & Estimating
- Identify suitable tender and project opportunities.
- Coordinate and prepare tender and estimate submissions.
- Review project scopes, specifications, schedules and commercial requirements.
- Obtain supplier and subcontractor pricing where required.
- Develop competitive and commercially sound pricing.
- Ensure submissions are accurate, complete and lodged within required timeframes.
- Assist with commercial negotiations and clarification of scope prior to project award.
Project & Contract Management
- Manage awarded projects and contracts from commencement through to completion.
- Review project scope, client requirements, commercial conditions and deliverables.
- Coordinate project timelines, equipment, personnel, subcontractors and resources.
- Work closely with operations to ensure the right plant and personnel are allocated to each project.
- Maintain regular communication with clients throughout project delivery.
- Monitor project progress, productivity, costs and commercial performance.
- Identify potential delays, variations, risks or issues and address them early.
- Manage variations and additional works in consultation with management and clients.
- Ensure contractual requirements and client expectations are understood and achieved.
- Assist with site, operational and quality management as required.
Project Reporting & Close-Out
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Prepare project and management reports.
- Monitor project performance against budgets, estimates and agreed outcomes.
- Coordinate completion documentation and project close-out.
- Review completed projects to identify lessons learned and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure outstanding commercial or administrative matters are resolved promptly.
Client, Supplier & Subcontractor Management
- Coordinate the onboarding of new clients.
- Assist with subcontractor selection and onboarding.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Coordinate purchase orders and project-related procurement.
- Ensure client, supplier, asset and project information is accurately established within company systems.
- Act as a key point of contact between clients and BJT Equip throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
We are looking for someone who is commercially aware, organised and comfortable taking ownership.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in civil construction, earthmoving, plant hire,
infrastructure or a related industry .
- Strong sales and business development experience.
- Proven ability to build and maintain professional client relationships.
- Experience preparing quotes, estimates, tenders or commercial proposals.
- Project or contract management experience within a construction-related environment.
- A good understanding of plant, equipment and civil construction operations.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs and profitability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Confidence dealing with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, supervisors and senior management.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make practical decisions.
- Competence with Microsoft Office and construction, CRM or project management software.
- Experience with EquipR or similar plant hire/project management systems would be advantageous.
- A relevant qualification in construction, project management, business or a related discipline would be advantageous but is not essential where suitable industry experience can be demonstrated.
