Alice Springs
NT Link is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Operations Manager to take ownership of our Alice Springs operation and play a key role in the delivery and growth of our Central Australian business.
For more than 30 years, NT Link has been delivering transportable commercial and residential building solutions across Northern Australia. From design and fabrication through to transport and installation, our teams deliver projects in some of Australia’s most unique and challenging environments.
Now, we’re looking for a strong operational leader who can bring together people, projects, performance and culture to take our Alice Springs operation forward.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll have broad responsibility for the day-to-day performance of our Alice Springs branch, while overseeing the successful delivery of small to medium projects throughout Central Australia.
You’ll lead from the front – supporting and developing Supervisors, strengthening operational capability and ensuring our projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and on budget.
Just as importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to influence how we operate.
You’ll work closely with senior leaders across the business to identify smarter ways of working, improve processes and workflows, plan resources and build a high-performing One Team culture.
Areas of Responsibility
This is a diverse leadership role where no two days will look exactly the same. You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading the day-to-day operations of the Alice Springs branch
- Providing senior oversight across projects and operational activities
- Driving project performance across planning, estimating, budgets, contracts, quality and delivery
- Leading, coaching and developing Supervisors and the broader Alice Springs team
- Working collaboratively across Operations, Business Development, HSEQ, Compliance and People & Culture
- Planning people, plant and equipment requirements ahead of upcoming works
- Driving continuous improvement across processes, workflow and operational performance
- Monitoring project and branch financial performance and preparing management reporting
- Supporting tender submissions and future business opportunities
- Building solid relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and local communities
- Representing NT Link at networking and industry events throughout Central Australia
- Championing a strong safety, quality and compliance culture across the operation.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced leader who knows how to run an operation, lead people and get projects delivered.
You’ll ideally bring at least five years’ experience in Project Management, Program Management, Branch Management or a similar operational leadership position, preferably within the building or construction industry.
You’ll be a confident communicator who can move comfortably between the worksite and the boardroom – building relationships with employees, subcontractors, clients, communities, suppliers and senior leaders.
You’ll also bring:
- A current Driver Licence and Construction Induction White Card
- Strong commercial and operational judgement
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Confidence working with budgets, reporting, project performance and operational systems
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and experience with project, safety and payroll platforms.
A Builder’s Licence, Trade Qualification and/or formal Project Management qualification will be highly regarded, as will previous experience within the transportable building sector.
What's in it for you
This opportunity provides you with:
- A competitive remuneration package that includes base salary, superannuation, and annual performance bonus
- Temporary accommodation will be provided to allow you time to source long term accommodation upon relocation
- You will be provided with a work vehicle, laptop and mobile phone to ensure effective delivery of your role
- Opportunity for support in training and development opportunities to further enhance your skillset and support you in your ongoing career growth
You won’t be managing from the sidelines. You’ll be at the centre of the operation – developing people, solving problems, improving performance and helping deliver projects that make a tangible impact across the region.
