Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified, full-time Electronic Security Technician for an immediate start, ideally someone motivated to stay current with rapidly evolving security technologies.
Based in Cairns, you will work alongside another locally based technician, with support from Ruswin’s broader technical and operational teams across Queensland. This is a field-based role operating from a fully maintained service vehicle and requires someone comfortable working independently while remaining connected to a supportive wider team. You will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance and commissioning of various commercial security systems.

Skills
- Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and repair capabilities
- Proven ability to configure and troubleshoot IP-based security systems
- Sound IT, networking and systems integration knowledge
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Adaptability to emerging technologies and industry developments
- Ability to conduct site surveys and assist with quoting and system design
- Commitment to completing work safely and within required timeframes, including documentation and reporting
- Excellent customer service and client-facing skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to train, mentor and support junior technicians
- Knowledge of integrated security solutions and remote monitoring technologies
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and specifications (highly regarded)
Experience
- Demonstrated experience installing,
servicing, commissioning and programming
- Alarms, Access Control and IP CCTV systems
- Experience working with enterprise-level security platforms
- Hands-on experience with structured cabling, coaxial cabling, fibre optics and wireless networking in security environments
- Exposure to large-scale commercial and industrial security projects (desirable)
- Previous experience working in regional or remote locations (desirable)
Qualifications
- Trade qualification — Certificate III in Security Equipment, Electronics or equivalent
- Current Security Provider Licence
- Open Cabling Registration with relevant endorsements
- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence
- White Card (Construction Induction)
- EWP competency (desirable)
- Working at Heights certification (desirable)
- Vendor certifications for major security platforms (e.g. Gallagher, Tecom, Integriti) highly regarded
