About the role

Miami Family Medical Centre is seeking a compassionate and organised Medical Receptionist to join our welcoming team on a casual basis . Based in Miami, QLD 4220 , this role is fundamental to the smooth operation of our practice and the positive first impression we create for every patient who walks through our doors. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in ensuring exceptional customer service whilst managing the administrative functions that keep our medical centre running efficiently. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients' healthcare journeys.

What you'll be doing

- Greeting patients warmly upon arrival and ensuring they feel welcomed and at ease in our practice

- Managing patient check-in and check-out procedures, including verifying personal details and insurance information

- Scheduling and confirming patient appointments, liaising with both patients and clinical staff to optimise clinic flow

- Answering telephone enquiries professionally and directing calls to appropriate staff members

- Processing patient documentation accurately and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with privacy legislation

- Managing patient records, including filing and updating medical information within our practice management system

- Handling administrative tasks such as data entry, correspondence and filing

- Processing patient payments and managing billing inquiries with professionalism and discretion

- Supporting the clinical team with general administrative duties as required

- Maintaining a clean,



organised reception area that reflects our commitment to patient care and professionalism

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working as a medical receptionist or in a healthcare administration role

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff at all levels

- Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

- Proficiency with practice management software and general computer applications including Microsoft Office

- Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with healthcare practices and procedures

- A compassionate approach to patient care with a genuine commitment to providing exceptional customer service

- Discretion and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws and ethical standards

- Reliability and flexibility, with a willingness to accommodate the casual nature of this position

- Relevant qualifications such as a Certificate III or higher in Medical Administration or Healthcare (preferred)
