Registered or Clinical Psychologist – Private Practice Associate

A private practice of your own—without having to practise alone

In Positive Health (IPH) is seeking a registered psychologist or clinical psychologist to join our warm and collaborative professional community in Canberra’s inner north.

Our beautifully designed, purpose-built practice has been established in Braddon for more than four years. During that time, we have developed a strong referral network and a reputation for thoughtful, high-quality and values-driven care.

This opportunity would suit a psychologist who wants the independence of running their own private practice, together with the connection, infrastructure and professional support of an established clinic.

What being an Associate means

As an Associate, you operate your own independent private practice in association with In Positive Health.

- All client billings flow to your own business.

- IPH does not retain a percentage of your billings.

- Your caseload and client relationships remain part of your independent practice, always subject to client choice.

- You retain responsibility for your clinical work, professional obligations and the development of your practice.

- A fixed Associate fee applies for your consulting room and included practice services.

This is not an employment position, nor will you be engaged as a contractor to provide clinical services to IPH. Instead, you will enter into an Associate Agreement covering your use of the clinic, shared services and association with the In Positive Health practice.

It offers genuine qualified autonomy alongside the connection of working within a supportive and collegial environment.

Your rooms, clinic days and client base

We are seeking someone available to practise onsite for two, three or four regular days each week. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate arrangements of fewer than two days.





You will have sole use of a fully furnished consulting room on your nominated clinic days. The room may be used by another clinician on alternate days, so some furnishings and storage will be shared.

IPH has an established referral network, and we will support your visibility and the growth of your practice. However, we want to be transparent that an Associate is ultimately responsible for developing and maintaining their own caseload. We cannot guarantee a full client load.

You are warmly encouraged to bring an existing caseload, which will remain part of your independent practice.

- A Microsoft 365 email account, cloud storage and desktop applications

- Wi-Fi, printing and photocopying facilities

- Secure onsite storage

- Collegial connection, mutual support and opportunities for professional exchange

Optional onsite parking may also be available at a modest additional cost, subject to availability.

About you

To join us as an Associate, you will:

- Hold general registration as a psychologist with AHPRA, with or without clinical endorsement

- Be eligible to provide Medicare-rebated psychological services

- Be a current member of the Australian Psychological Society

- Have the right to work and operate a private practice in Australia

- Meet the professional, insurance and business requirements of independent practice

- Be available onsite for two, three or four regular days per week

- Value professionalism, independence, warmth and high-quality client care

- Be ready to commence as soon as practical
