Norton Gold Fields is seeking a proactive and hands-on Environmental Technician to join our Environmental Compliance team at our Paddington operations.
This is an excellent chance for someone with environmental or mine site experience who enjoys working outdoors and wants to build their career within the mining industry. Working alongside our Environmental Advisors, you will support environmental monitoring, inspections and management activities to help maintain compliance across our operations.
Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting environmental inspections across operational areas
- Completing environmental monitoring and collecting accurate field data
- Undertaking water and soil sampling, flow meter readings and rehabilitation monitoring
- Supporting weed control and fauna management activities
- Maintaining onsite landfill and bioremediation facilities
- Assisting with rehabilitation works, including seed sowing
- Supporting flora and fauna surveys and weather station servicing
- Accurately recording and reporting environmental data
- Working collaboratively with Processing, Open Pit, Underground and other operational teams
- Completing general environmental duties as required
To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience working on a mine site
- Previous exposure to environmental monitoring or management
- A relevant TAFE qualification
- A current unrestricted Western Australian C Class Driver’s Licence
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work independently and confidently solve problems
- Sound Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- A strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance
- The physical fitness to work outdoors in hot, dusty conditions and on uneven ground, including the ability to lift up to 20kg
