We are seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer (based in Australia with full working rights) to join our growing team at Sigma Power Services. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on field experience and develop a strong foundation in high-voltage systems, electrical testing, and commissioning .
This role is ideal for a recent electrical engineering graduate who is passionate about power systems, protection, and practical fieldwork . You will be mentored by experienced engineers and technicians as you learn to test, commission, and troubleshoot critical electrical components used in substations and industrial installations .
What You'll Be Doing
- Assist with the testing and commissioning of high-voltage electrical components including:
- Protection relays
- Circuit breakers,
- Instrument transformers (CTs/VTs/CVTs),
- Energy Meters
- Power Transformers
- Condition Monitoring
- Power Cables
- Rotating Machines and more
- Support preparation and review of electrical schematics, protection logic diagrams, and test plans
- Operate advanced test equipment (e.g. Omicron, Megger) under supervision
- Participate in on-site commissioning activities at substations and industrial facilities
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to analyse results and troubleshoot issues
- Assist in preparing technical documentation, test reports, and compliance records
- Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a strong HSE culture on site
What We're Looking For
- A degree in Electrical Engineering (recently completed)
- Must be based in Australia with full working rights
- Familiarity with electrical networks and a solid foundation in electrical engineering principles
- Basic Understanding of electrical safety procedures.
- Genuine interest in power systems, high-voltage equipment, and practical, hands-on work
- Willingness to travel and work on-site across WA (FIFO/DIDO may be required)
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Explicit communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
Desirable
- Internship or project experience related to power systems or electrical infrastructure
- Current WA Driver’s Licence (or ability to obtain)
- White Card (or willingness to obtain)
