The Warehouse & Inventory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations, inventory management and logistical activities to ensure the efficient receipt, storage, control and despatch of goods and product. The role is accountable for maintaining accurate inventory records, upholding the best practice warehouse processes, leading warehouse staff and ensuring compliance with all safety practises.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations
· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouse
· Ensure goods are received, checked, stored, picked, packed and despatched accurately and efficiently
· Optimise warehouse layout and storage systems to maximise workflow
· Maintain an organised, clean, and effective warehouse environment
· Identify and implement improvements to warehouse processes and efficiency
Inventory Management
· Maintain accurate inventory records using the company’s inventory management system
· Conduct regular cycle counts and rolling stocktakes
· Assist in investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies
· Ensure stock is correctly labelled, stored and protected from damage
Team Leadership
· Lead, mentor and support warehouse staff
· Allocate daily tasks and monitor performance
· Assist with onboarding and training of new employees
· Foster a positive team culture focused on safety, accountability and continuous improvement
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and maintain a safe workplace in accordance with WHS legislation
- Conduct regular warehouse safety inspections
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly
- Ensure equipment is maintained and operated safely
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain warehouse documentation and records
- Liaise with purchasing, production, sales, transport providers, and customers as required
- Assist in developing warehouse procedures and standard operating practices
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience supervising warehouse or logistics operations
- Inventory management experience
- Sound knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Current forklift licence
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
Desirable
- Experience with ERP systems
- First Aid Certificate
- Certificate III or IV in Warehousing, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to safely lift and move goods in accordance with manual handling guidelines
- Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment where licensed
- Work within indoor and outdoor warehouse environments
