PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Contribute to the efficiency and reliability of the Northern Territory’s electrical power transmission and distribution networks by providing high level
testing and commissioning expertise on all High Voltage plant and associated control and protection systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The “WHAT” to be delivered

Functional
• Provide high level technical advice and practical expertise in the testing of complex protection schemes including associated secondary circuits,

relays and IED’s

- Contribute to the safe and efficient commissioning and maintenance of substation’s high voltage electrical plant such as switch boards,

instrument transformers and power transformers, as well as their associated secondary protection systems.

- Carry out testing procedures in line with organisational and national standards prior to subsequent energisation
- Undertake High Voltage testing on all plant and equipment associated with power transmission and distribution, in the field or in the High

Voltage Test laboratory.

- Contribute to the effective transfer and sharing of knowledge across the organisation and the maintenance of the corporation’s quality rating

by documenting processes, procedures and techniques developed for undertaking complex technical tasks. Assist in building the capability of
the team by mentoring staff and identifying areas of need for technical training.

Safety




• Complies with all legislation and codes of practice related to safety and electricity regulation.

- Complies with all PWC safety policies and procedures
- Proactive and takes all practicable steps to ensure own safety, the safety of contractors, the public, PWC staff and their property
- Records all non- compliance with safety practices and subsequent corrective actions
- Protects the workplace in accordance with corporate standards and operational legislative compliance

Customer

- Interact with customers and the community in regard to all activities, always acting in accordance with Power & Water’s values and the code of

conduct.

- Refer customer complaints and issues to the relevant Field Supervisor as required

Quality
• Ensure the work undertaken is completed in accordance with PWC standards, procedures and work
Commercial
• Report any potential cost impacts (time, contractor, site changes etc) to relevant personnel

- Proactively search for potential efficiency gains in the way the sections tasks are undertaken.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Qualification & Skills Experience

Essential • A Diploma of Electrical or Power Engineering or • Demonstrated understanding of secure work practices
approved equivalent, recognised to Australian applied to risk and hazard management, associated
Qualification Framework (AQF) level 5 and a minimum with an electrical network, in a field environment.
of a National Restricted Licence Category • Experience with the installation or testing of complex
