Are you an organised and detail-oriented finance professional looking for a flexible part-time role with variety?

NEWR is a premium residential design and renovation company based in Canberra. We're looking for a Finance Assistant / Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day financial operations of NEWR and its connected entities.

This role can offer a mix of office and remote work, with a minimum of two days per week in our Canberra office. Hours can be structured across four days to suit the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Bookkeeping

- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities across multiple entities

- Maintain Xero accounting records accurately

- Process accounts payable and receivable

- Manage supplier invoices, customer invoicing and subcontractor payments

- Complete bank reconciliations

- Assist with payroll processing and employee records

- Review employee timesheets and overtime

- Support superannuation, leave and BAS preparation

- Liaise with external accountants and advisers

- Assist with cash flow administration and financial reporting

Project Costing & Reporting

- Monitor project budgets and actual costs

- Assist with project cost allocation and coding

- Review project-related expenses

- Assist with financial reporting and monthly management reports

- Support project variation tracking and financial administration





Systems & Process Improvement

- Help improve finance systems and internal processes

- Prepare reports using Microsoft Excel

- Maintain organised financial and compliance documentation

- Provide general finance and administrative support across the business

About You

You'll ideally have:

- Previous bookkeeping or finance administration experience

- Strong working knowledge of Xero

- Experience with payroll and BAS processes

- Strong Microsoft Excel skills

- Excellent attention to detail

- Solid organisational and time management skills

- A proactive and reliable approach

- High levels of professionalism and confidentiality

Highly Regarded

- Experience working across multiple entities

- Construction or project-based industry experience

- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
