Maintenance & Factory Supervisor
About the Role
The Maintenance & Factory Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the protected, efficient, and high-quality operation of our manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Factory Manager and General Manager , you will lead the maintenance of factory machinery and equipment while supervising production staff to ensure operational excellence.
This role combines strong technical expertise with people leadership, requiring a hands-on professional who can troubleshoot equipment, improve manufacturing processes, mentor team members, and maintain a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities Mechanical Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair machinery breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Source and organise replacement parts as required.
- Maintain critical spare parts inventory to ensure equipment availability.
- Plan, coordinate and complete scheduled preventative maintenance programs.
- Carry out regular equipment inspections and identify opportunities for proactive maintenance.
- Ensure machinery is operating safely and efficiently while maintaining product quality.
- Keep the Factory Manager and General Manager informed of equipment issues that may impact production schedules.
Production Leadership
- Supervise, support and motivate production employees to achieve daily production targets.
- Allocate work effectively across the factory floor.
- Work collaboratively with the Factory Manager and Leading Hands to optimise workflow.
- Monitor production performance and ensure quality standards are consistently achieved.
- Ensure assembly targets and daily glass processing schedules are completed.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and resolve production quality issues promptly.
- Take ownership of production outcomes, ensuring jobs are completed accurately and on time.
- Escalate production delays, equipment issues or material shortages to relevant departments.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste, improve efficiency and minimise rework.
- Support a culture focused on operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Production Planning and Scheduling teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Assist with maintaining accurate production and rework records within Fleetmatix.
- Communicate effectively across departments to support delivery commitments.
Leadership, Training & Compliance
- Train, mentor and support new and existing employees.
- Encourage cross-training to develop a flexible and capable workforce.
- Promote and enforce all Workplace Health & Safety (WHS/OHS) policies and procedures.
- Ensure contractors and visitors comply with site safety requirements.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the factory.
- Conduct regular end-of-day inspections to ensure work areas remain clean, organised and safe.

Essential Skills & Experience
We are seeking an experienced manufacturing professional who possesses:
Essential
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on machinery maintenance experience.
- Experience supervising teams within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes and preventative maintenance.
- Understanding of Workplace Health & Safety (WHS/OHS) legislation and safe work practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the business.
- Physically fit and capable of performing the manual aspects of the role.
Highly Regarded
- Experience with machine programming or automation.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
- Experience using production management or maintenance software.
