Job Role: Employment Consultant – Drug and Alcohol

Location: Hamilton, Newcastle NSW (Excellent public transport links, close to train station)

Salary: $71,867 per annum plus salary packaging and superannuation for candidates without industry experience

Up to $75,000 per annum plus salary packaging and superannuation for candidates with Employment Services experience

Overall package value up to approximately $95,000 depending on experience and benefits

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Role Overview:

We are recruiting motivated and customer-focused employment consultant to join a growing team delivering the Workforce Australia (WFA ) programme in Hamilton, Newcastle.

As an Employment Consultant , you will support participants with disabilities, injuries, health conditions and other barriers to employment, helping them move towards sustainable and meaningful careers. Through personalised coaching, tailored action planning and robust employer engagement, you will play a vital role in helping individuals achieve long-term employment success.

This role is ideal for candidates from Employment Services, Recruitment, Community Services, Disability Services, Health & Wellbeing, Customer Service, Sales or Case Management backgrounds who are passionate about changing lives through employment.

Key Responsibilities:

Participant Engagement & Case Management

- Manage a caseload of approximately 100-120 participants
- Conduct individual appointments to understand aspirations, skills and barriers
- Develop personalised employment plans and progression pathways
- Support participants to prepare for, secure and maintain employment
- Deliver ongoing coaching, motivation and practical employability support




- Ensure participants meet programme requirements and remain actively engaged

Employment Support & Job Outcomes

- Support participants with:
- CV development
- Job applications
- Interview preparation
- Job search activity
- Confidence building
- In-work support
- Identify and address vocational and non-vocational barriers to employment
- Work towards monthly placement and outcome targets
- Support sustainable employment outcomes through regular follow-up and engagement

Employer Engagement & Reverse Marketing

- Develop relationships with local employers and recruitment partners
- Reverse market suitable candidates to employers
- Identify employment opportunities that align with participant goals and capabilities
- Promote the benefits of inclusive hiring practices
- Support employers throughout the recruitment process

Compliance, Administration & Performance

- Maintain accurate participant records and activity notes
- Manage programme compliance and contractual requirements
- Utilise internal systems and CRM platforms effectively
- Achieve agreed KPIs relating to placements, outcomes and participant engagement
- Ensure all paperwork and activity is completed to required standards

- Experience in a customer-facing, target-driven environment




- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience managing competing priorities and workloads
- Ability to motivate and support individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Strong administration and IT skills
- Resilient, positive and solutions-focused approach
- Ability to build confidence and trust with participants and employers
- Commitment to achieving positive employment outcomes

- Certificate III or above in Employment Services, Community Services, Disability Services or related field
