About the role

The Silver Oak Indian Cafe And Restaurant is seeking an experienced Chefs/Cooks to join our talented culinary team in Herne Hill, WA 6056 . This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional Indian cuisine to our valued customers. As a key member of our kitchen brigade, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes that maintain our reputation for authentic flavour and culinary excellence. This role is central to our operation, directly impacting customer satisfaction and the overall success of our restaurant.

Key responsibilities

1. Preparing and cooking Indian dishes to the highest standard, following established recipes and presentation guidelines

2. Managing station-specific tasks within the kitchen, ensuring efficiency and consistency across all service periods

3. Maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards in compliance with health and safety regulations

4. Monitoring stock levels and communicating ordering requirements to ensure adequate ingredient availability

5. Collaborating with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of orders during service

6. Receiving feedback from management and kitchen team members, and implementing improvements to cooking techniques and dish presentation

7. Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of all kitchen equipment, work surfaces and storage areas

8. Contributing to the development of new menu items and seasonal specials when required

Assisting with food preparation and mise en place activities before service begins

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience working as a chef or cook, ideally with experience in Indian cuisine preparation

2. Solid knowledge of Indian cooking techniques, spices, and traditional cooking methods

3. Food handling certifications and a thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene standards

4. Excellent knife skills and proficiency in using a variety of kitchen equipment safely and effectively

5. The ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining quality standards during busy service periods

6. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to consistency and presentation excellence

7. Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff

8. Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods whilst performing physically demanding tasks

9. A passion for culinary excellence and a genuine interest in Indian cuisine

10. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends as required by the restaurant schedule

11. Preferred: Experience in a fast-paced restaurant or cafe environment
