We have an opportunity for an experienced Grounds and Maintenance Officer to join our team at The Henry Canberra, a retirement village nestled in the picturesque suburb of Higgins in Belconnen. We are seeking an experienced individual who will thrive in a hands-on role. Your primary focus will be maintaining our village and gardens to the highest standard, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for our residents and visitors.

Reporting to the Management Team, your duties will include a variety of maintenance and groundskeeping tasks across the village, including:

- Performing general and preventative maintenance tasks in an organised and proactive manner.

- Conducting repairs and maintenance to village facilities, including but not limited to painting, patching walls, repairing doors and windows, minor carpentry, troubleshooting plumbing issues, and general cleaning.

- Managing lawn and grounds maintenance, including but not limited to irrigation, seeding, topdressing, fertilising, mulching, raking, sweeping, whipper snipping, trimming, weeding and spraying of pesticides/herbicides as required.

- Planting and maintaining trees and gardens, including pruning for shrubs and other plants as needed.





- Engaging with residents and visitors in a friendly, customer-focused manner, building positive relationships.

- Completing administrative and reporting duties related to maintenance activities.

- Assisting the Management Team with additional tasks as required.

- Hands-on experience in building and grounds maintenance, with strong attention to detail.

- Initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Solid problem solving skills and a commitment to safe work practices.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a customer-focused approach.

- The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in various weather conditions.

- A valid driver's licence and proof of Australian work rights

- A current National Police Check ad WWVP, or willingness to obtain.
