QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Current High Risk Forklift drivers licence (Essential).
- Current heavy vehicle driver’s licence as relevant to Gulf Hydraulics principle delivery vehicle (Preferred).
- Recognised welding qualification (Essential).
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working as an industrial welder with experience in MIG, TIG and stick welding with a variety of materials including bronze, steel and iron (Preferred).
- Current First Aid qualification (preferred).
- Knowledge and experience within a manufacturing environment (Preferred).
- Overhead crane operation experience with Dogging, Slinging and Rigging qualifications (Preferred).
- Experience working with and following Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental systems, policies and procedures.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Excellent attention to detail.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- MARKET RELATED SALARY
- Perform weld preparation with grinding and preheating, as required, to ensure weld quality and conformity to OEM, customer and /or Gulf specifications / procedures.
- Correctly utilise tempil sticks and/or infrared thermometer to determine preheat temperatures have been achieved as required by the applicable welding procedures.
- Safely use oxy / acetylene gas torches to perform preheat / maintain temperature on base materials in preparation for welding.
- Safely and correctly set up and use rotating equipment to facilitate weld runs on cylindrical components.
- Correctly perform MIG, TIG, stick or Flux Core welding in accordance with OEM, customer and/or Gulf specifications / weld procedures.
- Safely and correctly weld in horizontal and vertical positions.
- Remove excess weld from unwanted areas via grinding or via use of a weld spatter removal product.
- Maintain job / product identification throughout the welding process.
- Assist in weld procedure development, as required.
- Select and use stiffeners as required to minimise heat distortion from the welding processes.
- Monitor heat input during welding to minimise heat distortion.
- Welding activities include reworking a cylinder eye, fixing a bolt or removing a bolt, welding a groove, re-welding base to barrel rod clevis to rod, weld piston, rods and glands.
- Perform post weld annealing as required and as achievable by Gulf hydraulics capabilities.
- Perform welding rework as required and determined by the inspection and non-conformance process.
- Continuously monitor the welding processes to ensure quality and safety are maintained to OEM, customer and/or Gulf policies, standards and specifications.
- Safely using overhead cranes and slinging and rigging techniques to relocate the welded part to the next operation’s work station, e.g. post weld machining.
- Wears and maintains all appropriate PPE as required for the performance of the role detailed herein as required by Gulf, by WA OSH legislation and product manufacturer’s MSDS.
- Maintains and uses the welding booth and associated welding and inspection equipment in accordance with equipment manufacturers’ and Gulf instructions. (General housekeeping).
- Reports defective equipment to Management for repair.
- Follows all Gulf policies, procedures and instructions regarding Administration, Human Resources, Quality, Safety, Health and Workplace.
