About Us

Tjiwarl (Aboriginal Corporation) RNTBC (Tjiwarl AC) is a purpose-driven, not-for-profit organisation. It aims to deliver long-term, positive outcomes for Aboriginal people that are members of the Corporation. Priorities include health, education, employment and training, small business development, land management, law and culture, and protecting native title.

The Role

The primary objective of this role is to establish and maintain communication, manage the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all Tjiwarl AC communications (external and internal) in consultation with the CEO and Board. This is a part-time position, working 15 hours per week across two days

The Duties

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop, implement and monitor Tjiwarl ACs media strategy in consultation with the CEO and TAC Managers

- Work within Tjiwarl ACs policies and practice

COMMUNICATIONS

- Monitor daily media and advise on reactive media opportunities

- Develop and pitch proactive communication opportunities externally and internally in consultation with the CEO and Managers

- Lead production of Tjiwarl ACs communication materials including website, eNewsletter, brochures and promotional material

- Support the marketing and communication of Tjiwarl ACs services

- Develop Tjiwarl ACs style guide and version control policy

- Contribute to the development and delivery of communication strategies for events, forums and distribution policies

- Develop and implement Tjiwarl AC’s advocacy strategies and campaigns in consultation with the CEO

ONLINE

- Establish and maintain oversight of Tjiwarl AC’s website,



including process of updating information

- Develop, implement and evaluate social media strategy in consultation with the Operations Director and CEO

REPORTS

- Provide monthly reports to the Operations Director and CEO.

Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria:

- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.

- Extensive experience in copywriting and proofreading within a Public Relations, Journalism or Communications role.

- Previous experience in communications roles

- Experience in online communications including: developing and implementing online strategies and maintaining websites.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and flexibly, as well as cooperatively as part of a team.

- Demonstrated ability to organise work, manage time, determine priorities and meet deadlines.

- Commitment to social justice and the vision of Tjiwarl AC

Desirable:

- Experience working with Aboriginal organisations and people.

Licenses & Accreditations:

- Current C Class Drivers Licence

- Appointment subject to a National Police Clearance

Salary & Perks

A competitive salary will be negotiated based on skills and experience. The role is based in Kewdale, with occasional overnight travel to the northern Goldfields.
