About the role

We are seeking applications for multiple Learning Guidepositions, to provide English learning support to newly arrivedclients and existing students from Hindi to Chinese speakingbackgrounds. You will provide learning support in digitalessentials, pronunciation, and conversation to our HumanitarianSettlement clients at the Pakenham campus.

To be considered for this role, you will be able to address the following key selection criteria:

- At least two years' experience delivering information ortraining in formal and/or informal environments to clients froma CALD background
- Ability to speak either Hindi or Chinese language
- A current valid Working with Children Check (Employee) forVictoria
- Ability to be flexible and able to work in a variety ofeducational contexts : one-on -one, small or medium sizedgroups; formal or informal; and with a range of languageabilities and people from different cultural backgrounds
- Candidates who speak Arabic will be preferred
- Ability to think on one's feet is critical and able to keepa level head when busy
- Excellent interpersonal skills,



including the ability totreat potential program participants with empathy andsensitivity in a medical environment, and to work with clientsfrom a strengths-based approach
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated capacity to respond flexibly to changingprogram requirements and individual client needs
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- High level of professionalism appropriate to therequirements of the role
- Understanding of settlement issues and sound knowledge ofservices relevant to newly arrived communities
- Demonstrated ability to maintain good working relationshipswith a range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated capacity to work independently, be highlyaccountable, as well as being able to work collaboratively andcooperatively as part of a diverse team in a busy off-siteenvironment
- Sound IT skills and confidence utilising digitalresources
- Experience meeting strict program, regulations andstandards requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to values of integrity,reliability, teamwork and professionalism consistent with theAMES Australia Vision and Mission
