International College of Victoria (ICV) is seeking an experienced and passionate Carpentry Trainer to join our training team in Melbourne.
About the Role
As a Carpentry Trainer, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality vocational education and practical training to students undertaking Certificate III in Carpentry (CPC30220). You will support students in developing the practical skills, knowledge and industry confidence required to succeed in the Australian construction industry.
The successful candidate will contribute to a positive learning environment while ensuring training and assessment are delivered in accordance with industry standards and VET compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging theoretical and practical training for CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry.
- Provide hands‑on instruction in carpentry techniques, tools, equipment, materials and construction practices.
- Assess student competency against training package requirements and assessment criteria.
- Provide constructive feedback and ongoing support to students to help them achieve competency.
- Maintain accurate and timely training and assessment records.
- Ensure practical training is conducted in a safe, skilled and industry-relevant environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide additional support where required.
- Maintain current industry knowledge and ensure training reflects contemporary construction practices.
- Participate in validation, moderation and continuous improvement activities.
- Comply with ICV's policies, procedures, WHS requirements and applicable VET regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate III in Carpentry (CPC30220) or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Relevant TAE qualification, such as TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or an accepted equivalent.
- Relevant and current industry experience in carpentry and construction.
- Demonstrated experience delivering vocational education and training is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of Australian construction practices, WHS requirements and relevant industry standards.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to engage and support students from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to maintaining professional and industry currency.
