About the Firm
Our client is a growing and well-established legal firm based in Oran Park with offices in Melbourne, providing professional legal services to clients.
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to join their team and take responsibility for the day-to-day financial administration of the practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper who understands the specific accounting requirements of a legal practice, including legal trust accounting.
About the Role
Reporting to the Principal Solicitor, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the firm's financial and trust accounting requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing day-to-day bookkeeping and financial transactions
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Processing invoices and payments
- Monitoring outstanding accounts and assisting with debt collection
- Payroll processing and associated reporting
- BAS and GST preparation/support
- Maintaining accurate financial records
- Assisting with month-end financial reporting
- Managing and reconciling legal trust accounts
- Processing trust receipts,
payments and transfers in accordance with applicable requirements
- Maintaining accurate trust ledgers and reconciliations
- Assisting with trust account reporting and compliance requirements
- Liaising with the firm's accountant and external advisers as required
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous bookkeeping experience, ideally within a legal practice
- Sound understanding of legal trust accounting requirements
- Experience managing trust transactions and reconciliations
- Robust knowledge of Xero and/or legal practice accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- High level of confidentiality and professionalism
- Previous experience with payroll, BAS and general accounting processesism
- Experience in a NSW legal practice and familiarity with NSW legal trust accounting requirements will be highly regarded.
