About the role
As a Youth Ministry Assistant, this is your opportunity to support and inspire young people and young adults through meaningful ministry, discipleship, and community engagement at Parramatta Corps. Reporting to the Corps Officer, this is a permanent, part-time offering 22.8 hours a week, based on site in Parramatta, NSW. This role requires flexibility to work occasional weekends to support ministry programs and events.
How you will make an impact
- Support the delivery of youth ministry, pastoral care, discipleship, and leadership development activities under the guidance of the Corps Officer.
- Coordinate and deliver engaging programs for high school-aged young people that align with The Salvation Army’s mission and values.
- Create protected, inclusive, and welcoming environments that encourage learning, relationship-building, and spiritual growth.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with young people, supporting their participation and progression through the corps discipleship pathway.
- Assist with administration, reporting, and volunteer records, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Support partnerships with local community organisations and encourage involvement in Salvation Army events, camps, and service opportunities.
What you will bring
- A commitment to the Christian faith and mission of The Salvation Army.
- An ability to offer pastoral assistance, to offer prayer and to explain the Christian Gospel.
- Capacity to facilitate groups and one to one with a particular focus e.g. faith-based groups.
- Willingness to undertake relevant study or training as part of ongoing professional development (Preferred).
- A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is required.
- All compulsory training modules are completed and up to date.
- A current NSW Drivers Licence (if required for tool of trade car or pool car access).
- A valid NSW Working with Children Check for employees.
