Kuga Electrical
City of Greater Dandenong
Australia runs on energy that is getting cleaner, cheaper and a lot more complicated to sell, install and service. Kuga Energy is at the front of that shift — designing, installing and managing commercial solar, battery storage, EV charging and energy efficiency projects for businesses right across the country, from shopping centres and cold storage to aged care and manufacturing.
We have built our own CRM to run that business end to end: leads, site assessments, proposals, system design inputs, installation scheduling, compliance paperwork and post-install service. It is genuinely ours, and it holds a decade of hard-won operational knowledge. Now we want to put large language models to work inside it.
This is a new role and a hands-on one. You will be the person who takes Claude and ChatGPT from compelling demos to production features our sales, design and operations teams use every single day.
Position
AI Integration Engineer (Claude & ChatGPT)
Location
Keysborough, VIC 3173 — in office
Employment type
Full time, permanent
Reports to
Head of Technology / Operations
Competitive base + superannuation, commensurate with experience
What you will actually be doing
- Design and build LLM-powered features inside our custom CRM using the Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI (ChatGPT) APIs — not bolt-on chatbots, but capabilities wired into real workflows.
- Automate the paperwork that slows us down: drafting and quality-checking commercial proposals, summarising site assessments, extracting data from electricity bills and interval data, pre-filling grid connection and rebate documentation, and turning long email threads into clean CRM records.
- Build retrieval over our own knowledge — product specs, install standards, compliance requirements, historical projects — so the models answer from Kuga’s data rather than guessing.
- Choose the right model for the right job. You will benchmark Claude and ChatGPT (and whatever comes next) on our actual tasks and make evidence-based calls on cost, latency and accuracy.
- Own the plumbing: API integration, prompt and context design, structured outputs, tool/function calling, evaluation harnesses, monitoring, token cost management and graceful failure handling.
- Put guardrails around it. Customer and site data is sensitive; you will make sure our use of third-party models is secure, auditable, privacy-compliant and appropriately human-supervised.
- Work shoulder to shoulder with sales, engineering, project delivery and service teams to find the highest-value problems — then ship, measure and iterate.
- Bring the rest of the business along: internal documentation, training and sensible policy on what AI should and should not be trusted with.
What we are looking for
- Demonstrable production experience building with LLM APIs — Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, or both. We care far more about what you have shipped than where you learned it.
- Solid grasp of REST APIs, webhooks, authentication, queueing and asynchronous processing.
- Practical experience with retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings and vector search.
- Prompt engineering and evaluation skills — you can tell the difference between a prompt that demos well and one that holds up across a thousand real records.
- Sound judgement about data security,
privacy and Australian Privacy Principles when sending business data to third-party model providers.
- Clear communication with non-technical colleagues, and the initiative to run with a problem in a role that has no established playbook.
- Full working rights in Australia and the ability to work from our Keysborough office.
Highly regarded:
- Experience in energy, solar, construction, field services or another operations-heavy industry.
- Background in CRM or ERP integration work.
- Agent frameworks, workflow orchestration or MCP-style tool integrations.
- Document parsing and OCR at scale (proposals, invoices, technical datasheets, meter data).
- Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure or GCP), CI/CD and observability tooling.
- Data analysis and reporting skills that let you prove the value of what you built.
Why Kuga
- Real impact on decarbonisation. You will not be optimising ad clicks. Every project we deliver takes commercial and industrial load off fossil generation.
- A blank page. This is our first dedicated AI role. You will set the direction, the stack and the standards rather than inherit someone else’s.
- Our own platform. Because the CRM is built in-house, you can change it. No vendor roadmap, no waiting on a third party to expose an endpoint.
- A business with runway. An established, award-winning commercial solar company with offices in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and the Philippines.
- Support to keep sharpening. Budget for training, conferences and the model access you need to do the job properly.
Be careful - Don’t provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs. Don't transfer any money or complete suspicious online surveys. If you see something suspicious, report this job ad .
