GEGAC isan Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria.Consisting of about 200 staff, GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services,Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.
GEGACadvocates for the self-determination of the Aboriginal community byprioritising services that enhance social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing,with culture at the heart of everything we do.
PositionPurpose
The CasualEarly Childhood Teacher plays an important role in ensuring children andfamilies continue to receive high-quality, culturally safe, inclusive andresponsive kindergarten experiences when regular teaching staff areunavailable. Through the delivery of engaging play-based learning programs, theposition supports children’s learning, wellbeing, cultural identity anddevelopment while contributing to GEGAC’s commitment to strengtheningAboriginal children, families and communities.
The CasualEarly Childhood Teacher promotes a safe, inclusive and culturally responsive environment that respects and values diversity,
including people of all sexualorientations, gender identities and intersex variations. The position provideseducational leadership within the kindergarten room, supports positive outcomesfor children and families, and maintain compliance with all relevantlegislative, regulatory and organisational requirements.
KeySelection Criteria
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitmentto Aboriginal culture and the ability to work respectfully with Aboriginalchildren, families and communities.
- Demonstrated experience deliveringhigh-quality early childhood education programs.
- Sound understanding of the EYLF,VEYLDF, National Quality Framework and Child Safe Standards.
- Ability to build positive relationshipswith children, families, staff and community members.
- Demonstrated effective written andverbal communication skills, solid organisational and time management abilities,and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and electronicdocumentation systems.
Qualificationsand Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
- Approved Early Childhood Teachingqualification recognised by ACECQA and the Education and Care Services NationalLaw ESSENTIAL
- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)registration, or eligibility to obtain and maintain registration throughoutemployment ESSENTIAL
- A satisfactory Working with ChildrenCheck and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
- A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islanderbackground DESIRABLE
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGACrequirements ESSENTIAL
A valid Working with Children Check and Policecheck is mandatory to work in this organisation.
