What you will do
As Senior Legal Policy Officer, you will develop legal policy and law reform projects.
You will provide transparent advice on complex legal and policy issues for senior leaders and government.
You will:
- develop sound legal policy proposals for the Attorney-General's reform program.
- provide authoritative advice on criminal law, legislation and justice system reform.
- prepare explicit cabinet, parliamentary, ministerial and other written material.
- research complex issues and present practical options, risks and recommendations.
- work across the department and justice system to deliver important reform projects.
About you
You need a relevant tertiary qualification in law. You also need experience in legal policy or relevant legal practice.
You should also have:
- solid knowledge of Victorian Government policy processes and how they work.
- excellent written communication skills and the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
- strong analytical skills,
including the ability to interpret legislation and find accurate legal solutions.
- flexibility and resilience when priorities change or you need to solve difficult problems.
