The Role
The ABC is looking for a Supervising Producer to take the lead in shaping compelling stories and delivering agenda‑setting, news‑breaking content for Australia’s flagship nightly current affairs program, 7.30. Be at the heart of major national conversations and make an impact every day.
The Job
- Lead the lineup and on‑air production of 7.30, including rundowns and timely delivery of content.
- Oversee broadcastswith the Executive Producer and Commissioning Editor.
- Work with reporters on shoots, scripting and story development, ensuring creativity and editorial integrity.
- Analyse and respond to major news and events with speed and accuracy.
- Coordinate interviews, shoots and graphics production.
- Contribute to editorial meetings and drive original, agenda‑setting stories.
- Liaise across ABC teams for coverage, promotion and audience engagement.
- Ensure diverse stories that reflect Australia’s communities.

About You
You’ll have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Strong leadership skills with experience guiding high-performing teams in a fast-paced newsroom.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, interpersonal and time management abilities.
- Exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Proven commitment to creating authentic content that reflects Australia’s cultural and community diversity.
- Ability to build and maintain strong community contacts.
- Ongoing passion for telling stories that represent Australia’s diversity.
