Director Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker (Identified)
Exciting opportunity to join our team on a permanent basis, based in Brisbane CBD. To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders.
The successful person
The essential requirements for this role are:
- The person performing this role is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.
- An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a person who identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is either:
- of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; or
- accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which he or she lives.
- It is mandatory for employees appointed to this role to possess:
- Certificate IV or higher in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice.; and
- A relevant Bachelor degree (AQF level 7) or higher qualification.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge and understanding of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service delivery practices with a proven track record in improving clinical services and establishing robust systems to ensure delivery of safe and reliable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health services,
development of professional competency standards and governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated competence in providing high level culturally appropriate, strategic, and effective leadership to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker profession, to meet current and future health service delivery needs.
- Demonstrated high level strategic leadership expertise across multiple health care facilities resulting in improved patient outcomes.
