Electrical Engineer (Mid to Senior level)
Electrical Engineer (or Senior) to deliver high-quality electrical engineering solutions across multiple projects within the energy, resources, and industrial sectors. The role involves leading discipline engineering activities from concept through to commissioning, ensuring technical excellence, safety, compliance, and successful project delivery within schedule and budget requirements.
Key responsibilities
Deliver electrical engineering services in accordance with client, regulatory, statutory, and industry requirements.
Utilize and promote digital engineering and AI-enabled tools to improve project delivery and efficiency.
Collaborate effectively with global engineering teams and workshare offices to achieve quality project outcomes.
Perform and review electrical engineering design, calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
Ensure engineering solutions are fit-for-purpose, considering safety, operability, maintainability, sustainability, and lifecycle requirements.
Identify, assess, and manage engineering risks and safety considerations throughout the asset lifecycle.
Resolve technical challenges through innovative and practical engineering solutions.
Ensure project scope is clearly defined and managed through established change management processes.
Develop and review technical deliverables, ensuring compliance with quality assurance and checking procedures.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, safety workshops, and hazard studies.
Prepare electrical engineering estimates, including scope definition, methodologies, assumptions, exclusions, deliverables, schedules, and resource requirements.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, designers, contractors, vendors,
and clients to support successful project execution.
Build and maintain solid stakeholder relationships across internal and external project teams.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives relating to engineering systems, procedures, and best practices.
About you
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or a related discipline.
5 to 10 years of electrical engineering experience within oil & gas, resources, energy, infrastructure, or related industries.
Demonstrated experience leading electrical engineering activities on medium to large-scale projects.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Experience across all phases of project delivery, including feasibility, FEED, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and operational support.
Strong knowledge of Australian electrical standards and industry practices.
Experience in hazardous area design and certification will be highly regarded.
Electrical equipment sizing and selection.
Cable routing, equipment layouts, lighting, earthing, and grounding design.
Arc flash studies and electrical safety requirements.
High-voltage systems, switchgear, motor control centres (MCCs), motors, and drives.
Protection systems, relay coordination, and settings for electrical networks.
Electrical calculations and power system studies.
Control system interfaces and instrumentation integration.
Development of electrical design documentation including single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, schedules, and termination drawings.
Site-based engineering activities, including scoping, equipment inspections, construction support, and commissioning.
Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
Preparation of technical specifications, datasheets, procurement packages, construction work packs, ITPs, MTOs, philosophies, and methodologies.
Electrical estimating, project scheduling, and shutdown planning considerations.
Strong client focus and commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.
Strong leadership capability with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
