About the role
As the Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM), you will:
- Provide clinical leadership and act as the recognised shift leader, establishing priorities and coordinating safe, high-quality patient care.
- Undertake comprehensive mental health nursing assessments, develop and implement person-centred care plans, and coordinate multidisciplinary treatment.
- Provide clinical support and guidance to nursing staff, students and other team members, with a focus on capability development and best practice.
- Coordinate nursing and non-nursing functions on shift, ensuring staff work within relevant professional, organisational and safety standards.
- Contribute to the development of nursing practice, procedures and service objectives, supporting continuous improvement across the unit.
- Maintain high standards of clinical documentation, communication and clinical governance.
- Bring sound clinical knowledge, leadership experience and dual diagnosis capability,
together with enthusiasm, initiative and a strong commitment to patient-centred care.
- Support the delivery of a collaborative service focused on achieving positive outcomes for consumers experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Current registration with AHPRA (essential)
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience in mental health and/or AOD nursing (within Australia)
- Post graduate mental health nursing qualifications (essential) and AOD stream qualifications (highly regarded)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- An empathetic and personable demeanour
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- The ability and experience to confidently lead a diverse team
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
